It's Always Going to be a Struggle Isn't It?
I'm starting a pouch test today. This is going to be interesting. The reason I'm doing the pouch test is because I've been eating too much. For those who are unfamiliar, the pouch test is a means of testing restriction in your tiny tummy created by bariatric surgery. Learn more here: 5 Day Pouch Test
After listening to This American Life a few weeks ago, I realized that my weight and my body issues are always going to be a struggle. Things have gotten significantly better with how much of my time is occupied thinking of food and eating, but it's still a thing.
This article by Allison McCarthy, mentioned in the video, was a follow up read for me.
Last night, I was given a ride home by a new friend from a birthday party. Attendants were asked to bring a dish to share. I brought a stir-fry and because I wanted to return my roommate's Tupperware, I brought the food home with me. At one point, we were at a stop light at a very popular Chicago intersection. As we sat at the red light, I noticed three police cars. Due to recent events, I was faced with the thought of my own mortality as there were three minorities in the vehicle. My first thought was, please don't let me be murdered as the fat lady with a Tubberware full of stir-fry in my totebag. So much about that scenario is horrific.
