ONE YEAR POST OP GASTRIC BYPASS
Today, I met with my surgeon for my one year post op check up. I can't begin to explain to you what a difference this year has made in my life. But let's start with the boring stuff.
Heaviest Weight: 356 lbs
Weight when I met my surgeon: 338 lbs
Surgery Day Weight: 323 lbs
Weight Today: 238 lbs...though I've fluctuated down to 232
I haven't done my measurements, but I will try to remember to do this this evening. My surgeon was over the moon happy. According to him, gastric bypass patients are considered "a success" if the surgery leads to them losing 50% of their excess weight. I've already lost, and I don't plan on stopping being active, 70% of my excess weight! He says that I should just keep doing what I'm doing and contact him in six months for plastic surgery recommendations for skin surgery (because I told him that is DEF happening). He assured me that if I want to get down to our the goal weight my primary care physician wants me at (190 lbs), that is totally acceptable, but he thinks at 6'1", I'd be healthy at 200 - 2015. It's really unfathomable to hear yourself described as "healthy" after years and years of that being the opposite of truth.
I won't have time to make a video about this given the timing of my upcoming trip and seeing Hamilton tomorrow night (!), but I do want to show what this process looks like...the more fun part. I'm not done yet, but it's been an AMAZING of a journey!
three weeks later...
Ok, I'm back in the States and I obviously wrote that beginning part earlier. Although, oddly I am going to see Hamilton again tomorrow night (!!!). This is one of the longest YouTube videos that I've ever made, so I guess I'll just let it speak for itself. Sorry I was talking forever! But, it's a fun video...so I'm not that sorry!
Excited to get back to the gym this week! Excited for the projects I'm taking on with my career and life! Excited to keep this weight loss journey going!
