Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in weight loss, food, and fun in Chicago. Please have a nice stay!

B*TCH, I'M HANGRY!

B*TCH, I'M HANGRY!

I started writing this a few weeks ago. As the video explains, my motivation for most things has been nonexistent. As part of my depression struggles, I have admittedly been slacking with my diet. Pretty much just shoving whatever I'm hungry in my face when I'm hungry since I got back from vacation. Tired of feeling sluggish and really wanting to get below 200lbs/wanting to have my body looking snatched at all the upcoming holiday parties, I've decided to start making clean eating recipes. They are generally low in carbs and relatively healthy. I realized that the reason I lost weight in Europe and the UK while still stuffing my face with everything was probably because of the lack of preservatives and GMO allowed by their governmental restrictions.

So, I had been using this site as a guide, as I've also been too lazy to cook and it's crock pot season here in Chicago. The first recipe I tried was the pot roast. Then, I made the chicken chili. Following the recipes fairly precisely, after a pricey grocery haul from Whole (Paycheck) Foods, I am STILL hungry. Don't get me wrong, the recipes were edible. But, I've realized one thing that prevents me from overeating is eating really delicious, flavorful meals. These were not that. Even after adding additional seasoning and spices, I've found the two recipes, which mind you are huge in proportion when you cook for one person, to be extremely bland. While the meat in the meals is extremely tender, the flavor just isn't enough for my preference.

I tried the meat balls next, they were not flavorless, but I moved on to another website...and started halving the ingredients because I can only eat the same meals so many times. Tonight, I made pizza, but used Italian turkey sausage instead of chicken. This was delicious. I used tomato and basil sauce, fresh mozzarella, a tiny bit of herbed goat cheese, turkey pepperoni, a few of the meat balls I had left over, and spinach. The meat crust is extremely filling. The entire "pizza" was about a personal pizza size of 6" and I struggle bussed my way through half of it because I haven't eaten much today and know I need nourishment. It was about of a cup of food when I put the other half in tupperware.

Feel free to comment with any tips and tricks, and definitely any recipes you have to cut the bad stuff out of your diet. Bonus points if they have a ton of flavor!
